From: "Sandy Ayer" To: "gsdlonghaired@citlink.net" Subject: new ship info 9 05 Date: Friday, September 02, 2005 9:04 AM Shipping is usually on Delta or US Air. In summer temperature must be 84 degrees or below. We do afternoon and evening flights only. In winter can not ship if below 20 degrees and afternoon flights only. You will need to be FLEXIBLE about the day and time your puppy can be shipped to you. Sometimes we can ONLY ship Tue-Fri. Other times of year we can ship on weekends ONLY.(ask us) Time and Day: We do try to accommodate the 'majority' of the clients we are shipping to AFTER our own schedule. We ship between 8 weeks old and 10 weeks old as our schedule permits. We will let you know the day WE will be able to ship on. Be prepared for (occasional) date changes due to: our schedule, weather, airline changes, etc. Since the airport is such a distance from us we will make only 1 trip to the airport. Sometimes weather may be the right temperature to ship in one state but not in another state we are shipping to. When that happens we will have to cancel the flights for all pups and have to reschedule pups shipping on a day where ALL pups can go in 1 trip on a day where temperatures are right for ALL destinations. Please do not ask for shipping if you have specific time constraints on when you 'must' get your pup by a certain day/week due to vacations, etc. Best to choose a litter to get a pup from when you have no plans pending. Shipping roster is in order of deposits received. If puppies can not be shipped because of weather restrictions, by 10 weeks old, we will have to move you to another litter if you can not come to pick up your puppy OR if you can not come to pick up your puppy we can REFUND your payment. We do have Puppy Clients who fly in to pick up their new Puppy and take Puppy back in the cabin on the plane with them and weather restrictions dont apply. As of this writing - $75 airline fee. We also have had a few people fly in with their own private planes. Contact us for location of closest small airports and car rentals- there are 3 within an hour or less for flying in with your own plane. ***We have changed to $330.00 for shipping as we will be paying a small pet transport service to transport 'OUR PUPPIES ONLY' - usually to the Roanoke VA Airport - or sometimes Lewisberg WV, - so we dont have to be away from our dogs/puppies most of the day(we have to be away from home 9-10 hour day when we ship from ROA) or if we have another litter of puppies here. In instances where we are able to transport ourselves, we will now still be charging the transportation fee since we are such a distance from the airports. Here is some info about your trip home from the airport you may want to know. People tell me that puppies are usually standing at the crate door wagging their tails when they see their new owners there to pick them up! :-) *Puppies vaccination records and your copy of the contract will be attached to the top of the crate-in the Puppy Pack or in the packet with the airlines shipping info. *Bring with you to the airport some WATER for puppy. I freeze their water trays but it doesnt last the whole trip. Pups will be thirsty. (and hungry - if you have a long trip home from the airport.) We do feed the puppys their regularly scheduled meals while we are still at home in the morning. *Puppies have been bathed, brushed, nails clipped, ears cleaned. Puppies are shipped on thick news papers and shredded newspaper w/their Nyla Bone and water(ice) in their crate. If they arrive with anything on their coats or with a blanket, they may have had an potty accident. The airlines are to change the papers if the Pup has had an accident. *In case of the RARE instance where puppy has had an accident in the crate you will want to bring w/you (better to be safe than sorry even tho you probably wont need it) a large dampened towel and a large dry towel - so you will be able to give puppy a BIG hug anyway!!! I find that putting the towel in the washer w/a bit of water and a very small amount of vinegar then spinning it out makes it damp w/out being too wet. Then put the damp towel in a plastic bag and bring a dry towel as well. Bring to the airport some cleaner spray and paper towels in case you need to wipe out the crate and POTTY TRAINING PADS or NEWSPAPERS for putting back in the crate. *Make sure you have read the PARVO info that we have already sent to you so you will know about NOT putting puppy on the bare ground to go potty. (use newspapers or pads in crate)(Parvo Info tells you how to avoid exposing Pup to this disease until Pup is fully vaccinated at 16 weeks old.) *Then have a safe trip home and enjoy your new Puppy! *Please call us after your puppy has arrived and you return home from the airport. Thank you. *We mark on the top of the crate w/permanent marker the airport destination so it is plain for the airport staff to see where Puppy is going to. We also write on the handle of their Nyla bone, where they do not chew.(Some were disappearing) Scrub off the Nylabone w/Comet after Puppy arrives. You may do the crate as well if you like.
